New York, NY – June 29, 2007 — The Central Park Conservancy, New York City Department of Parks &Recreation and Pegasus Media Productions announce the Second Summer Cbess Lecture/Simul Series on Sunday, July 22nd featuring Grandmaster Susan Polgar at the Chess and Checkers House in Central Park from 10:00am-3:00pm. This event is combined with a Cross-Generation Chess Match™. Following the lecture, a “Simul” (simultaneous chess play, wherein Grandmaster Susan Polgar will move from board to board, making one move at time).

Participation is limited for the first 30 registered participants with a chess rating of 1000 or better. Three will be on-going Cross-Generation Chess on the 24 outdoor stone chess tables. The Cross-Generation™ Chess Program is designed to simultaneously demonstrate ability, promote learning and build relationships among individuals across generations. It’s not just the chess game but the conversation shared that makes this social interaction between senior citizens and children unique. This program is a series of monthly chess meets where participating children and senior citizens visit various senior living facilities and centers in and around New York City to engage in relaxing chess play.
