It was an evening filled with music and concerns that voiced the issue of education to all. A musical programme organised by GiveLife Charity and the Marg Chennai Marathon Team in aid of the Chennai Marathon, here on Saturday, saw elected representatives, corporate heads and celebrities extending support to the marathon and the cause.

Chess Champion Viswanathan Anand said that he was excited to be part of a cause that was ‘effectively’ being approached with accountability. Actor Arya, expressing his support to the run, said that things worked better when done collectively. Mayor M. Subramanian also spoke.

Guitarist and composer Prasanna and various artists of the Swarnabhoomi Acadamy of Music performed at the programme. The third edition of the Chennai Marathon is scheduled on August 29. More than one lakh people are expected to participate in the seven-km open category ‘I love Chennai run,’ and around 8,000 registered participants are expected to take part in the 21-km half-marathon.
