This answers a few questions. He didn’t sign anything (no surprise there, he never does).
It’s still not clear if they need his consent, regardless of what he says. He believes that they needed his consent to use his name in the movie Searching For Bobby Fischer, though legally they didn’t. Nobody needs his permission to do a documentary about him.
Though its also not clear if these guys even want to release it without his consent.
Another thing that’s not clear is if we even want to see it. If it’s just some fictionalized account of how Bobby got in trouble with the law through no fault of his own, then why bother?
He still claims to hold a title that he resigned in writing 33 years ago. If it ever goes to court, that’ll go over well with the judge.
Yeah, Fischer doesn’t care about the money. He’s turned down fortunes in the past.
More likely it’s about content. Probably the documentary takes a less slanted approach to the issue than he wants, and makes some small attempt to address the opposing side. Fischer wouldn’t be happy with anything less than a full-blooded “I’m right and everyone else is wrong” propaganda film, which would sink Iceland’s credibility even lower than it’s already gone over this issue.
the problem is fischer doesnt consult with these people then expects them to read his mind. bobby should get off his ass and work with them to insure the integrity of the movie. its hard to track that elusive nutjob down. how are you going to know what he wants when he probaly never even spoke to them. i like fischer but sometimes i too would be frustrated dealing with that guy.

He just wants money, as always.
Hi,
I personally doubt if RJF needs the money.
He refused many lucrative contracts offered by marketing companies.
