Chess tournament begins tonight
Chess Grandmaster Susan Polgar will play (up to) 64 opponents simultaneously tonight between 7:15 and 10 p.,. at Sunrise Mountain High School, 21200 N. 83rd Ave.
Anybody can be one of her challengers for a $30 fee on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration will continue until the start of play or until all spots are filled.
Separate Susan Polgar National Open Chess Championships for boys and firls will be held 9:15 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Feb. 14 and 15 at Sunrise Mountain High School. The competition includes prizes, trophies, teaching events and eligible high school players compete for college scholarships.
