what a mess! somebody should clean up the board!
1. Re6 Qxe6 (Rxe6, 2. Qg5#)
2. Nxe6 Rg8 (Rxe6, 3. Qg5#)
3. Bf4+ Rg5
4. Bxg5+ Rxg5
5. Qxg5#
2. … Rxe7
3. Bf4+ Rg5
4. Qxg5#
1. … Rxe7 (Rf6, 2. Qxf6#)
2. Rxg6+ hxg6
3. Qxg6#
1. … Kg7
2. Rxg6+ hxg6 (Kh8, 3. Be5#)
3. Qxg6+ Kh8
4. Be5#
1. … other
2. Qf8+ Rxf8
3. exf8Q#
A ton a mating lines here. The shortest one, I think, is three moves. Though quiet, 1.Be5 is fairly obvious to me since it takes g7 away from the king and threatens a very simple Qh5#. There is no defense, and the only delaying move is Qf1+ after which white will mate on move #3 with either Qh5 or Qg5.
1.Be5
I would go for 1. Be5, threatening
Qh4. I don’t find a way for Black to stop the threat…
Have I misunderstood something here?
White is allready up with a piece, and no direct threat against.
The most efficient killer should be:
1. Be5
and nothing can prevent Qh5#
(Rg5/Rf6 Qg5#)
Only delay is Qe1+ Rxe1. Mate in 2.
W=Bd8
B=Qb3
White has an embarrassment of riches. The fastest win I see is 1.Qf8+ Rxf8 (1…Rg7 2.Qxe8 threatening Qh5#) 2.exf8(Q)+ Rg7 3.Qf6+ Rg6 4.Nxg6 hxg6 (what else?) 5.Qh8#.
1.Be5! and mate on the next move 1-0
Qh4
1. Be5, and mate follows.
I think this should work:
1.Be5 any black move
2.Qh5++
If 1…Rf5
2.Qf5++
I don’t see how black can defend againstthis line.
1Qh5+ Kg7
2Be5+ Rf6( 2…Kf7 3Qxh7+ Rg7 3Qxg7#)
3Qg5+ Kf7
Qxf6+ Kg8
5Qg7#
1. Be5, followed by Qh5 mate
I don’t get all the first 5 answers. What is wrong with Be5 and mate next move.
O.K. My comment has come so fast I realise I must be wrong.Yes after
1Qh5+ kg7 2 Be5+ black can play 2… Kg8 which is not easy to handle. Best seems to be
1Be5 first sealing g7 followed by Qh5#
