FIDE President in the Russian State Social University

On 26 June, FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov was guest of honour in the International Centre of Chess Education of the Russian State Social University. He was welcomed by Mr. Vasily Zhukov, President of the Chess Federation of Moscow, Rector of the Russian State Social University.

The two Presidents walked together amongst the auditoriums of the Centre including hall of the chess games internet broadcast, computer class, classes of individual lessons, chess library and attended the lessons of “Karpov’s chess school”.

Kirsan Ilyumzhinov and Vasily Zhukov took part in the the graduation projects presentation of the alumni of chess department. The FIDE President noted the excellent sport results of the students and high level of education of chess specialists. He commented: “It is developing a generation of professional chess school teachers, chess organizers and arbiters”.

Later Kirsan Ilyumzhinov attended the whychess.org internet-site presentation, gave an interview to mass media and spoke with the designers of the new internet portal.

During the conversation the FIDE President shared his plans on chess modernization, i.e. it is planned by FIDE to hold a world-wide discussion on the future of chess development. Each chess player may send his own ideas or participate in discussing already presented ones. FIDE President announced that starting from January 1st 2012, FIDE will implement a special rating for rapid and blitz chess.
