FIDE President in Cambodia and Vietnam

On the closing day of his working visit to Laos FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov played a simultaneous game on 30 boards with young chess players.

On 18 June FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov made an official visit to Phnom Penh, Cambodia. There he met with Mr. Vann Phal – Deputy Secretary General of the Royal Government of Cambodia. They discussed issues of chess development in the country. It was noted that cooperation between FIDE and Cambodia is successfully developing. As a resut of this mutual cooperation many joint projects have been already realized. In particular the FIDE programme “Chess in schools” has been implemented in Cambodia.

The same day Kirsan Ilyumzhinov arrived in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. There FIDE President had a meeting with Mr. Nguyen Minh Triet, President of Vietnam. The main topic of their negotiations was chess development in Vietnam. At the end of their meeting the two Presidents played blitz game.
