Monthly FIDE rating list starting July 2012
Rating floor lowered to 1000 ELO
The FIDE Presidential Board in Al Ain decided to implement the recommendation of the Qualification Chairman and Rating Administrator to lower the rating floor to 1000 and produce the rating list on a monthly basis.
It was agreed that this should come into effect from July 1st 2012. With that decision the FIDE ratings are moving a step closer to the live top lists supported by Dambi at http://chess.liverating.org/ and GM Naiditsch at http://chess-evolution.com.
This is a great move by FIDE to get more amateur players involved.
The US should switch their rating system to FIDE.

Please explain how is lowering the rating floor will get more players involved??

And what if the FIDE rating system breaks? You want to depend on external factors and be ruled by others??
How much to pay for FIDE rating administrator?? He will get to work more now.
Cheers, might I know the benefits of having fide rating? And how much it costs to get one?
Who cares about FIDE rating? ICC and Playchess ratings are the only ones that matter. And they are free, too.
Elo, Elo Elo … very similar to Ego
🙂
