Today July 20th is the 87th anniversary of the founding of FIDE in Paris, France in 1924.

On this day all chess lovers celebrate International Chess Day. 45 years ago, in 1966, on the initiative of the World Chess Federation (FIDE) this holiday came into the world community calendar. The game, which originated in the East, has won the hearts and minds of millions and for many chess has become an important part of their life.

Today a great number of chess events and competitions are held under the auspices of FIDE even in the remote places of our planet. Nowadays almost every city has a chess club, where the admirers of chess gather to enjoy the game.

FIDE sends best wishes to all the players, chess fans and admirers of this ancient game!
