white wins
c7+ Kc8
Kc6 a4
b4 a3
b5 a2
b6 a1 promotes
b7 mate
Looks like an easy win..unless there’s something there I can’t see. 1. c7# Kc8 2. Kc6 ..now a5 is forced and white should not take but just push up the B pawn till its mate.
Or am I missing something?
Already published, I remember.
1. c7+ Kc8
2. Kc6 a4
3. b4 a3
4. b5 a2
5. b6 a1=Q
6. b7#
Best regards
Stef
I think it’s
c7+ forcing “stalemate” or promotion.
1. c7+ Kc8
2. Kc6 a4
3. b4
Leading to a quite nice checkmate in a “2 pawns are better than 1 queen” scenario.
Perhaps the readers should start e-mailing some puzzles. We refreshed on this one just a couple to three weeks ago, though I don’t remember the kingside pawns being there.
1.c7+ Kc8 2.Kc6 a4 3.b4 a3 4.b5 a2 5.b6 a1=Q 6.b7#
1)c7+ Kc8 2)Kc6 a4 3)b4 leads to mate
A joke!
1. c7+ Kc8
2. Kc6 and White checkmates with b7
(have you depleted your stock of pawn endgames? *chuckles*)
1. c7+ Kc8
2. Kc6 a4
3. b4 a3
4. b5 a2
5. b6 a1Q
7. b7#
1.c7 Kc8 2.Kc6 a4 3.b4 until b7#
