1.Nf5+ should win. 1… Kg6? 2.Ne7+; 1… exf5 2.e6 followed of 3.d7 winning.
I tried 1 Nd5 and achieved a draw. Only than did I turn to the comments and it seems that anon 1:15 is right. And that 1. Nf5 is the move. Oh well, at least I saw that it is a Knight move.
1. Nf5+ exf5
2. e6 b3
3. d7 b2
4. d8=Q b1=Q
5. Qf8+ Kg6
6. Qf7+ Kh6
7. Qf6# (The Black pawn that captured the Knight on f5, is now interfering and the Black Queen cannot block the check since it cannot reach g6. With 1. Nd5 , the Queen can block the check.
Nc4-d2-b1 does a job, as the ‘World Team’ did against Kasparov. The wB is nailed to the spot to prevent the wP-advance…
However, 1.Nf5+ is more interesting…
1. … Kg6 (exf5 e6 ? d7)
2. Ne7+ Kf7 Nxc6 Ke8 Na5
… and then Nc4 etc is on again.
So White wins with the N-frk.
@Egaion
5.Qf6# seems like an improvement on your line.
Black can make it harder by not taking the knight, but white still wins.

Nc4-d2-b1 does a job
Hope I’m not misunderstanding you, but after:
1.Nc4? b3
2.Kg3 Kg6
3.Kf2 h5
4.gxh5+ Kxh5
… Black has passers on both wings, and White’s d-pawn isn’t going anywhere. Classic B vs. N ending advantage.
You’re right about 1.Nf5+ winning.
I tried 1 Nd5 and achieved a draw.
Can you be more specific? After:
1.Nd5 b3
2.Nc3 b2
3.Kg3 Kg6
4.Kf2 h5
5.gxh5+ Kxh5
Black looks like a winner.
When I was thinking through ‘Nc4-Nd2-Nb1’, I was recalling that that was a stall-tactic by the ‘World Team’ in the Kasparov-World Game. So I was thinking “Yes, that does something, but does it do enough, and is there anything better?”
I think the answer is “No, it’s not enough” because, as you say, Black can develop a passer on the K-side. But I found Nf5+ before thinking about that.
Yes, that does something
