Qf8check..Nf7 B#f7 Queen takes then the e5 check wins the house…so the best answer is d2 then its easy..bg8 check King moves up Queen checks on the c file and again on the d file to keep an eye on the d pawn and picks up the queen on h7 next move.

Hello Susan,
1.f4 (an idea to place white pawn or queen at e5) gxf4 2.Kxf4 (black knight hanging) and white win.
musato
1.Qf8+ Nf7 2.BxN QxN 3.e5+! 1-0
zzzzzz 1.Qf8+ Nf7 2.e5+ +-
Please, give us some real puzzles.
1. Qf8+, Nf7
2. Bxf7, d2
3. Bg8+, Ke5
4. Qc5+, Kf6
5. e5+, Kg7
6. Qe7+, Kh8
7. Qxh7++
1-0
1.Qf8+ Nf7 2.e5+ Kxe5
Here´s what came to my mind. White can win Black´s queen as follows:
1. Qf8+ Nf7
2. Bxf7 d2
3. Bg8+ Ke5
4. Bxh7 d1Q
5. Qh8+
6. Qd8+
7. Qxd1
2. … Qxf7
3. e5 Kxe5
4. Qxf7
Greets, Jan
1. Qf8+ Nf7
2. Bxf7 Qxf7
3. e5+
and White wins the queen
Hi Susan Polgar,
Ref : “Endgame chess tactic” [ White has to move ]
Sub: White wins the game.
1.f4 g*f4
2.K*f4 g5
3.ke3 c3
4.Qf8+ Nf7
5.K*d3 c2
6.Kd4 c1(Q)
7.e5+ Mate
White wins the game.

I like Venky’s plan. 1. f4
venky please…..
Qf8+ also seems to work.
White wins the knight with
1. Qf8 Nf7 (only move)
2. Bf7 Qf7
3. e5+ wins black’s queen
Also, if, at move 2, black tries
2. …..d2
3. Bg8 Ke5
4. Qc5 Kf6
5. Bh7! d1(Q)
6. Qf8 Ke5
7. Qh8 Kd6
8. Qd8 bags the brand new black queen in her birth nest.
Best line for black appears to be:
2. …..Ke5
3. Qe8 Kd4
4. Kf2 Kc3
5. Qe6 Qg7 (d2 6.Qc4 should win)
6. Qc4 Kd2 (Kb2 7.Qb3 Kc1 8.Ke3)
7. Qa2 Kc1 (Kd1 8.Ke3)(Kc3 8.Qa1)
8. Ke3 Qc3 (what else?)
9. Bb3 d2 (Qc5 10.Kd3 wins)
10.Ke2 d1(Q)(a6 11.Qa3 Kb1 12.Ba2)
11.Bd1 a5 (nothing better)
12.Bb3 a4 (what else?)
13.Qa3 Kb1 (Qb2 no better)
14.Ba2 and white will exchange the queens and win with his passed e-pawn. I spent a considerable amount of time looking at this line, and after white’s 3rd move, I don’t see anything that lasts longer for black- his king is defenseless against the queen and bishop, and every other line has the same problem- it takes him a move to get his queen back into the defense, and by that time white has already pushed him to the edge of the board and won one of the passed pawns. However, hopefully another commenter will look at this, too, and find something better for black.
1. Qf8+ Nf7 2. Bxf7 d2 (2. … Qxf7 3. e5+) 3. Bxf7 d2 4. Bg8+ Ke5 5. Bxh7 d1=Q 6. Qh8+ Kd6 7. Qd8+
1. Qf8+ Nf7
2. Bxf7 Qxf7 (or Qg7)
3. e5+ 1-0
1. Q-f8+ 2.N-f7
2. P-e5+ wina
I rather like the idea of Qf8+ followed by pushing e5+ to take the Knight. I can’t see a more decisive move. It sure is distressing how near promotion the black pawns are, but the black queen should be a little out of place and the black king an easy target at the center.
Venky,
Your plan fails when black plays:
3. …..Qe7.
Hi Susan Polgar,
Well,I have great regard for both “Andy” and “Yancey Ward” : they used to post most precise moves for the given puzzle and I thank “Andy” for liking my moves in this puzzle.
Now,coming to “Yancey Ward” opinion about my moves for this puzzle : “Yancey Ward” said if black moves “Qe7” my plan of moves fail but I differ from this comment.
My opinion is even if black play “Qe7” – White will win the game, provided White has alertness in stretched game.
Example move{ Easiest one: I know this isn’t the place for “Qe7” that he has mentioned but I have this for example }
1.f4 Qe7
2.Q*Ne5+ Mate
White wins the game : 1 – 0
