1. Rd8 Qe7??

News in Michigan
missed a lot of things 🙁
1. Rd8 Qf5
2. Rxd5 Qxd5+
3. Nf3 -+
so maybe Rd8 is not so good…
1. Qxf7+ Qxf7
2. Nxf7 Kxf7
3. Rxb6 -+
1. Qh8+ Ke7
2. …?
News (in Michigan)
1.Rd8 Qf5 2. Qh8 Ke7 3.Qxe8 Kf6 4.Qxf7 …
1. Rd8
The black queen can no more guard all of f7, e8, and d5.
If f7 remains unguarded, then
2. Qxf7#
Otherwise if e8 remains unguarded, then
2. Qh8+ Ke7
3. Qxe8+
Otherwise if d5 remains unguarded, then
2. Rxd5
The guard on f7 is shaky for black. A direct attack on that square’s guard is obvious, but some of the replies are not so easily dealt with:
1. Rd8! Qb7
Black can, of course, just concede the queen for the rook, but that is a total loss anyway. However, trying to keep a guard on the rook (and removing one on the knight) is actually worse, I think:
2. Qh8 Ke7
3. Qe8 Kf6
4. Ne4 Kf5 (Kg7 5.Qh8#)
5. Kf3! and to prevent the mate, black will have to concede the full rook with Rd3+ at the very least (and even that might not actually prevent mate).
play like a girl,
Rd8 is a cutthroat move.
Rd8
Rd8
1. Rd8 Qb7
2. Rh8+ Ke7
3. Qxe8+ Kf6
4. Qe4+ & white is a knight up
Black Q is overloaded with two tasks:defending f7 as well as e8(after white’s Qh8+).So the right move is
1Rd8 I think further analysis is unnecessary.
Surely Rd8 must work, but after …Qb7!, (…Qe8, Qh8#!) I’m struggling to find the forced win.
Obviously good is Qh8+ Ke7, Qxe8+ Kf6.
Then probably Ne4+ is better than Nh7+ but then what? Maybe the position after K-moves, f3 is all we are looking for, it seems winnable.
