Chess for Peace: Dr. Mihail Korenman, me, Former Russian President Mikhail Gorbachev and WC Anatoly Karpov
Dr. Mikhail Korenman is one of the biggest assets for US Chess. He has organized many spectacular events that greatly benefit our sport. Most important of all, he has done all of these things without ever becoming a “chess politician”. He is a man of strong ethics, integrity, honesty and he LOVES chess! He works hard for our beloved game.
He is the mastermind of the Chess For Peace project which includes former Russian President Mikhail Gorbachev, WC Anatoly Karpov and me. He has the respect of countless people
I have asked Dr. Mikhail Korenman to run in the 2007 USCF Executive Board election. The USCF and US Chess need more good people like him. The last thing we need is more of the same old thing. I am glad to say that he has accepted my request and he will run for the USCF Executive Board position in the next election. Thank you Misha for stepping forward to help the USCF and US Chess!

With all the negative news and politik of USCF, enough to influence me to consider quitting the organization completly, this is welcome news. Please, if you could perhaps get others to align to revamping USCF and gettting rid of the current board.
I can already imagine the ravings of certain paranoid parties at USCF. Hee-hee.
The good doctor has my vote.
Susan,
One day, if you have the time, please explain what are the moving forces behind what you call the “the same old”? Who’s interest all that, how and why? You are talking about that quite often, we interpret bits and pieces, but I doubt that many of us would understand it in depth (at least I don’t).
Gabor
Gabor,
I will explain it in my chesscafe.com column which will come out on Tuesday night / Wednesday morning.
Best wishes,

Well, I guess the question is Mr. Korenman has the education, and the experience. Is he willing to step up to the plate? He could be a very key player in getting USCF straight. I looked at the recent USCF board meeting minutes the other night and the figures of reconciliation on expenses and it looks to be somewhat better than Ive seen in the past. I did not know of him, so thanks for the profile. I wonder how I could contact him, simply to thank him for his efforts.
Susan,
I read your post about Mikhail Korenman PHD, and I am left wondering what he will do on the executive board when he gets voted in. What are issues that are near and dear to his heart. Sure he has lots of experience, but experience doesn’t mean much to me if he doesn’t want to change anything that is going on. In other words I don’t think you need a great resume to keep things going the way they are now.
So what’s his platform?
Otherwise why should I even think about voting for him? Just because he’s educated and he’s been around chess?
Don’t worry, he is just the first important piece of the big picture. One of the ultimate goal is to restore the much needed credibility and respectability to this federation. Everything will be explained step by step.
Best wishes,
Susan Polgar

Susan you and all your friends will be guaranteed my vote in all coming elections. As a USCF life member, I have waited for some good person like you to make some changes in USCF. I dont think everything will change overnight. But stay with it and you will be successful.
Glad to see we are finally going to have some long term positive change.
I would make some changes to the rules about who can be elected to the board and top positions.
The election is not tomorrow. this is the first step in walking the 5280 feet in a mile. Before we read policy statements, I want there to be a team of players and then I want the team to get together and formulate a good policy. The policy needs time, thought, lots of work before it can be formulated and written down. I know it will all be a wonderful plan. I know the team will win. and I know USCF and chess in America will be so much better because of all your efforts.
GO Susan. This is such good news.
Bye Bye Beatrice
Bye Bye Sam
Correction or correct me …..Gorbachev was the former Soviet Union President not Russian…
