Dominguez is now #17 in the world at http://chess.liverating.org/ and has picked up more rating points (15.9) than Carlsen (14.4) since the July FIDE ratings. He’s definitely the strongest Cuban player since the immortal Capablanca.
VIVA CUBA!!!!
VIVA DOMINGUEZ!!

That was a pretty performance of Dominguez’ today against Alekseev. He appeared to be better of right after the opening already and got not deterred by white’s queenside pawns. Very nice game.
I actually doubt that Carlsen will be able to defeat him with the black pieces tomorrow, Dominguez is just rock-solid. Maybe he will even offer an early draw to secure victory in the tournament.
DV
Bizzare support for Carlsen…when he pushes hard and wins, everybody goes gaga over his ability to push and confuse the opponent.
So, when he finds someone who doesnt crack under pressure, he he loses with the same strategy.
Carlsen has talent but he has won more by others mistakes vs. by creatign new novelites
we are not talking about carlsen anymore. Dominguez is the star now! Wouldn’t surprise me if he made it to the top 10 after dresden.
Dominguez started with 3 draws, then scored 4.5 out of the last 5 (with the draw being as black to Carlsen)! Phenomenal!
Carlsen scored 2/2 against Pelletier who was on 0.5/7, but only 3/6 against the rest.
Putting these two together, it is unlikely that Carlsen will beat Dominguez with black- Carlsen would have to play much better than he has all week, and hope that Dominguez drops off the boil.
”Rating is nothing but a number.” -Magnus Carlsen
bizarre quote from Carlson.
Age is nothing but a number.
Weight is nothing but a number.
Height is nothing but a number.
But if you are 95 years old, 6’11” and weigh 432 pounds that means something!
all the rats on carlsen back ! unbelievable !!!
great performance by dominguez, enjoyable match …
Greatest Cuban player since Capablanca??? Yeah rite! Wait until Carlsen corners him tomorrow.
Dominguez is playing great…..nice win by him today.
Carlsen is a human being and as such can hiccup every once in a while…
Alekshive is also playing well.
Instead of enjoying such a bloody tournament…(fighting chess) ..which is unusual at this level…so many people are focusing on crazy things. I for one am enjoying it a lot….its a lot funner to watch than most tourneys…with players taking chances and going for blood. I for one freakin love it.
Mike Magnan
I love the games too!
Get Magnus some Orange Juice now!
Mike you need to make some bees feeding Manus some Orange Juice!
Hey ! lol…how do you know about my bees?
Mike
“how do you know about my bees?”
I knows bees… I knows bees.
yes, Dominguez is the greater of all the times, he’ll soon reach 2800
🙂
Dominguez might make 2750 though, but 2800 is still a long way off.
If you are going by what you have seen in this tournament- he might make even 2900- but I doubt we can interpolate that he will just win and win and win from now on.
