pxp kxp
rxr kxr
p-k6 ch wins bishop
And what after 1…Rxp?
I think 1.e6
after 1. . . RxP, then 2 Rd8+, Re8 3. Bb4+ wins the rook
After 1…Rxp ?? Bb4 !
1.e6 looks good with the following lines:
1.e6 fxe6, 2.dxe7+ Rxe7, 3.Rd8+ Re8, 4.Rxe8 Kxe8, 5.Bxg7
1.e6 fxe6, 2.dxe7+ Kxe7, 3.Rxd7+ Kxd7, 4.Bxg7
1.e6 Bxc3, 2.exd7
Thanks,
Jeff
pxp+ wins easily as marc says.
e6 just rxp
the resulting bishop vs. two pawns endgame after
1.dxe+ kxe7
2.rxd7+ kxd7
3.e6+ kxe6
4.bxg7 f6
is not that simple as it may look like…
btw. 1.e6 will also result in a superior ending for white (as previously pointed out by Jeff);
1.e6 rxe6?! does not work for black because
2.bxg7+! kxg7?
3.rxe6 dxe6
4.e7!
so black haqs to play
1.e6 fxe6
2.dxe7+ rxe7
3.bb4 kf7
4.bxe7 kxe7
5.ra3 with a rook vs bishop + pawn ending
greetings
DXe,Kxe7 //(rxe7? Bb4)// Rxd7 Kxd7,//e6+fxe,//Bxg7

Doesn’t 1.Kd5 seal the deal? Once the king invades black is in serious trouble…
all of a sudden the white king is placed on e4 now and not on e3 (the square i imagined him to be…) – please help me (hoddy or others!) – for sure i suffer from epiphanies, or too much german beer, or even worse “things” – was the king there on e4 all the time?
dear god …
please forget my lines with e6, because f5+ is always possible and forgive me, if you can –

Kd5! + –
1.dxe7+ Kxe7 2.Rxd7+ Kxd7 3.e6+ Kxe6 4.Bxg7 f6 is probably only a draw. Blacks main plan is to change the king side pawns and direct his king to a8.
Example variant:
5. Kd4 h4 (better than the immediate g5, the white bishop remains imprisoned) 6.Kc5 g5 7.fxg5 fxg5 8.Kb6 g4 9.Bd4 h3 10.gxh3 gxh3 11.Bg1
