Nb7
1. Rxc6 winning.
1. Rxc6 bxc6
2. Qe5+ f6 [2 … Qxe5 3.Nxf7# and 2. … Rg7 3. Qxg7# ]
3. Qxe7
Karthik,
you have just begun. The story continues
3…. Raf8 (to stop 4.Nf7#)
4.Bg7+ Rxg7
5.Qxf8+ Rg8
6.Nf7#
Whenever mate is possible you should go for it. It is just like seeing off your relatives at airport to ensure that they have left by plane and won’t return.
Well, 3.Qxe7 is like brandishing a machine gun and telling the in-laws that if they return, it will end badly for them.
What options are available to black on move 1 ?
Options for Black at move one:
1. Rxc6 f6
And if now the White saves rook from c6, the knight on d6 hangs. Therefore
2. Rxb6 axb6
3. Nc4/b5
With a bishop and a knight for the rook. For me, White seems slightly better here.
1. Rc6 f6
2. Qb3 should win more material:
2. ………..Rgf8 (if bc6, then 3.Nf7 wins)
And now white can play either Bxf8 or Rxb6 to net the full piece.
