1. Nc2+ Ka2 2. Nb4+ Kb3 3. N4d5 wins
1. Nc2+ Kb3 2. Nd4+ Kb4 (… Ka3 3. Nb5+) 3. Nd5+ Kc5 4. d7 wins as now both b7 and f7 are under d5 N’s control.
1. Nc2+ Kb3 2. Nd4+ Kb4 (… Ka3 3. Nb5+) 3. Nd5+ Kc4 4. d7 Bxd4+ 5. Kg2 is similar.
White can draw simply by liquidating BN even at the loss of both WN as the h pawn queening square is not controlled by the opposite color BB.
Hence now to win!
1. Nc2+!
A – 1…..Ka2. 2. Nb4+. Ka3/b3. 3. Nd5!. Na4/c4. 4. d7!. Nxb6. 5. d8=Q. Nxd5+. 6. Ka1. Wins for White as the Queen will easily pick up the loose pieces.
B – 1……Kb3. 2. Nd4+! (incidentally also frees Nb6 to move)
B1 – 2…..Ka3/b3. 3. Nb5+. Kb4. 4. Nxa7. Kc5. 5. d7!. Kxb6. 6. d8=Q+. Kxa7. And White wins easily with Q vs N+P.
B2 – 2…..Ka2. 3. Nd5!! And d pawn will Queen as the mighty WN at d5 prevents BB from accessing d8. The BN is too far away to help. 3……Bxd4+. 4. Kh1. Nd3. 5. d7!. Nc4/f4 hoping to divert attention of WN. But – 6. d8=Q wins for White with Q+N vs B+N+P.
B3 – 2…..Kb4. 3. Nd5!! And the d pawn will queen as in B2 above but with an extra tempo due to check! 3…Kc4. 4. d7!. Bxd4+. 5. Kh1. Kxd5. 6. d8=Q+ wins for White. (Note: 3. Nc6+??? Is a mistake because 3…..Kc5. 4. Nxa7. Kxd6 and it is a draw. if here 4. d7. Then Bxb6! And the d pawn is caught.)
