Here is Courtney with her Mom right after clinching the title
She did it! Courtney Jamison of Texas has just captured the 2008 SP National Invitational for Girls title with the score of 5.5 /6. She won the first 5 games then drew Linda Diaz of New York in the final round to secure the title.
Congratulations to Courtney! This is a well deserved win!

I think you should annotate one of her best games for the blog, Susan. 🙂
5.5/6 … agreed – would like to see last two games.
Obviously, the earlier opposition could have been stiffer and she’d still have won.
What other prizes are there? …
– youngest participant?
– most frequent participant?
– Parity Prize (Faith Munoz)
– greatest TPR-Rating?
– best player under ?? yrs old?
Any results for Boards 2 and 3?

Since there’s always a danger that parents burden children with their own ambitions, I hope the other competitors had realistic aims in taking part in SPNI.
Half the field will have beaten their rating, whcih is always a step in the right direction.
