It was a quiet day today for group A at Corus except for Kamsky who won with the Black pieces against Mamedyarov. This is Gata’s fourth win. That is quite an impressive feat. Unfortunately, he also has seven losses.
Topalov continues to lead Anand by 1/2 point. Anand will face Gelfand in the last round while Topalov has to face Leko. I expect both games to be drawn and Topalov winning the event by 1/2 point.
Hello Susan, I believe Topalov will hang on to win. He is proving to be a nice replacement for Kaspy. To change the topic, I would like to ask you if you have talked with your sister Judit and how does she feel going into the Torino Tournament. I would like to see her perform extremely well.
TFK ; )
I think both games will be drawn. Anand does have some incentive to play for a win with the white pieces though; a share of 1st place (if Topolov draws) and a current rating of 2803. He would be only the fourth player to do so. Although, after the short draw with Topolov today, he may not be feeling that ambitious after 12 rounds.
Leko as white is hard to beat, so I predict a draw for Topalov. Gelfand is rather solid, but Anand has been able to win over 40% of his white games vs. Gelfand in the 21st century. He’s prepared very well for this tournament, but probably emphasized his black repertoire – so I’ll give Anand a 40% chance to tie for first with Topalov.

Gata is losing his games in the opening. Probably just needs to recharge his repertoire after so much time off.

More precicely – in 2003 and later, VA vs. VT in traditional times were
VA Wins – 2
Draws – 3

I don’t think Anand will draw
I think Topolov definetly will
Go Vishy go !!!!!!!
Co-Champions V Anand and Topalov. they share as co champions. there are no tiebreaks at Corus.
Magnus Carlsen is also co champion with Alexander Motylev in Group B. Magnus came back to win his last game and move up to win his group. good experience for Magnus. Magnus had been running a good performace over his elo rating in his group. lets see how it turns out. we will know soon.
Topalov drew and Anand won his game.
Unfortunately Gata lost again. everyone was hoping for him to win 3 in a row. He lost his first game in Round 1 as black in a Center Counter game. He now has lost as white in the final round in a Center Counter game. I dont think Gata is going to like the center counter game as much on the ride home as he did traveling there.
Gata tended to either win his games or lose them. he only had one draw. I think he has a great shot at winning the US Championship. the competition will be a little less intense and I expect to see him going for the crown. the US Championship promises to be a very exciting tournament. too bad they had so many problems with FIDE late schedule of the women’s world championship conflict.
Yay, Anand won his last game and tied with Topa for first! Awesome tournament for both of them. +5 score. I think Anand will join the super exclusive 2800 club after this!
Vishy wins in Corus!!!!!!!!!
What time is it?
It’s Vishy time!
Vishy wins Corus trophy on tie breaks!

for best performance over his ratings.
Group A Karjakin +86
Group B Carlsen +116
Group C Marcelin +158
Anand did make it to the 2800 level. I read he is now 2801 and 2802. probably a close call. Topalov is suppose to move up to 2809.
the performance of Anand and Topalov was identical at 2850.
