Anand successfully held off Kramnik today to retain his title.
He is now the first World Champion in history to win the World Championship in 3 different formats: Knockout, Tournament, and Match! The final score is 6.5 – 4.5.
Congratulations to Vishy! Well done!

He is rightfully the 15th chosen one and his name is unequivocally now next to such greats as Lasker, Capablanca, Fischer, and Kasparov.
Congratulations from Greece!

Congratulations to a great wolrd champion. Thank you Susan for fantastic live analysis.
A deserved win for Anand! He is a worty World Champion Chess.
Thank you for the daily service Susan!
Congratulation from Finland. Thanks Vishy for wonderful games and to Susan for wonderful comments.
Finally, a deserving world champion from the country where chess originated in the 5th century. Not only Anand’s chess prowess but also his lifestyle (vegetarian, no smoking,no alcohol),his cultural background coupled with his unassuming manner have combined to make him one of the very best champions in chess history. Congratulations to Anand!!

Congratulations to Anand, but also to Kramnik for a well played match. And to both for such good show of sportsmanship, something that is lacking in many sporting events now days. We can hope that both receive much praise for this so that we can see more of it.

Congratulations to Anand!

P.S. Frankly, I feel this match ended before it really began. I am used to longer WC matches. Is this a new WC format?
I forgot something important: I highly praise your comments Susan and they helped me greatly to understand and enjoy the games. Thank you.

Well, we are only 1 year away of Topalov crushing Anand for the WCC!!!
Isn’t a Knockout Tournament a Tournament?
Of course he didn’t win “the” world championship in that format, no matter what it is. He won “a” disputed title. He and Botvinnik won it in two different formats, though (Match and tournament). And Karpov won it in two different formats, if you count a forfeit as a format.
Congratulations to Anand from France 😉
I admit i wanted Kramnik to win as i always appreciated this player , but Anand started strongly and deserved his victory , i was also happy to see the fair-play and respectful attitude between the two players . I hope the next WC match will be longer though , 18-20 games would be good
the new undisputed Champion Anand is a gentleman and a great professional , all the best for him in the future . I’m glad that chess is on the right track now , cheers
catalanBravo Vishy Anand !!!
Oh i had forgot !! Thanks a lot Susan for your excellent commentaries during this match ! 🙂
Congratulations Anand!!!
KO, Tournament, Match, Rapid & Blitz – Vishy has won it all! Even Kasparov cant claim that.
Congratulations to Anand from Poland and Vietnam!!!
You play is great. I am very pleased that you played the last game for winning, as I suggested. I know it is little probably that you had seen it, but anyway :).
Thank you Polgar for great comments. I learnt a lot from them. Maybe you should challenge Anand for the title 🙂
I’m looking forward to your WCC match with Carlsen, after some 4 years.

Before the match when Kramnik was talking about how only the championship won in a match is important to him, I really liked what one journalist wrote as a response:
“[Anand] is game enough to play in all formats and not run away from variety of challenges.”
And I completely agree. If you are good, you are good in all formats, not only one. And Anand just proved that.
well deserved, Vishy!
& thanks again for the great live analysis, Susan.
Anand is the most deserving world champion for a long time.
“Finally, a deserving world champion from the country where chess originated in the 5th century.”
Actually, chess originated in China.
And what’s this “finally” business, kemosabe? He became champion a year ago. This was just a title defense.

Congratulations, dear Vishy! 🙂
Now he is the Champ in all three formats – KnockOut, Tournament, and Match-Play, and against all the best players. Undisputed Champ.
…. The level of chess in this match was quite amazing. Kramnik also played well, but Anand played like he was from a different planet.
…. on present form, I would put Anand as one of the Top 3 in the post-1948 Chess ….
Fischer, Kasparov, Anand 🙂
3 cheers, man

A well deserved and convincing victory and an unanimous world champion! Congrats Vishy!!!!
With such preparation I wont be surprised at all if he would ave beaten Kasparov too.

By the way, how can I have access to your commentary on all the 11 games, for my studies?
