Mr. Chen Zude of China passed away
It is with very great sadness that we have learned that Mr. Chen Zude, former President of the Chinese Chess Association and Zone President of FIDE Zone 3.5 has passed away.
Mr. Chen Zude was a very famous professional go player and President of the Zhongguo Qiyuan and also served in the Chinese Weiqi Association as Chairman. He supported chess and was a close associate and friend of F. Campomanes and K. Ilyumzhinov. Mr. Chen Zude made a very solid foundation for chess in China, allowing the number of Grandmasters to increase and helping the progress of a number of Chinese women players reach the apex of their careers in becoming Women’s World Chess Champions.
He will be remembered dearly.
FIDE joins the family of Mr. Chen in mourning.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Mr. Chen’s family. I am so sorry to hear about your loss and I would like to offer you my condolences. I can understand your frustrations and pains in your heart with this world and why we should have hope because I used to feel the same way.
