By beating Nigel Short in the final game of the London Chess Classic, Magnus clinched the title as well as retaining the #1 ranking on the LIVE list, and most likely to close out 2010.

Raw!
Magnus we are proud of you!
G-Star Team
The big 5 in ’10 (classical games)
W L D
Carlsen 19 – 8 – 17
Anand 10 – 2 – 29
Aronian 13 – 2 – 29
Kramnik 15 – 7 – 38
Topalov 9 – 6 – 16
Karjakin 20 – 3 – 33 and still
playing in tournament currently
Nakamura was only one to beat
Kramnik with black this year.
Nice W’s for Carlsen while for everyone else save Topalov it’s draw city. Too bad Magnus has peaked.
I don’t know…I thought Caarlsens performance was great..but a little shaky with black. Just my opinion. But haha..when watching Kramnik walk away after that miracle save by Carlsen..I wonder how many people realize that that draw cost Kramnik around 50 thousand dollars in prize money!! haha…
Poor guy.

Another fine event from the London organisers – Category 20 this time.
Karjakin has been making strides since moving to Russia. Good decision!
