Nh6 almost leaps off the board at me because it is mate if black takes the knight:
1. Nh6! Kh8 (gh6 2.Qg4 Bg7 3.Qg7#)
2. Nf7! Kg8
3. Nd8
I am not sure this is the strongest move, but it wins cleanly:
3. …..Rd8
4. Rd8 wins the exchange and the game.
1. Nh6+!! Kh8
2. Nxf7+ 1-0
1. Nh6+!! gxh6??
2. Qg4+ Bg7
3. Qxg7+#
1. Nh6+! Kh8 (gxh6? Qg4+ Bg7 Qxg7#)
2. Nxf7+ Kg8
3. Nxd8 Rxd8
Is up with quality and pawn and black has no compensation.
For a continuation, I might guess something sharp like:
4. Qc4+ Kh8
5. Qf7 Rxd1+
6. Rxd1 a5
7. Rd7 Ba6
8. f4
Happy birthday Susan. BTW Nh6 is winning 🙂
1.Nh6+ Kh8
2.Nxf7+ kg8
3.Nxd8 Rxd8
4.Qc4+ Kh8
5.Qf7
White is exchange up and slowly tightens noose on black K.Black remains passive.
To be more accurate, I think black faces a rather sudden death after:
1. Nh6+ Kh8 (gxh6 Qg4+ mates)
2. Nxf7+ Kg8
3. Nxd8 Rxd8 (alternative below)
4. Qc4+!
Postponing further exchange of rooks was important to get a short game.
4. … Kh8 (sacking bishop on d5 would only delay)
5. Qf7!
Whatever black plays here, white will bring a rook to 7th rank and then Bxg7+ with mate to follow.
Alternative (sacking a rook):
3. … Rxc1
4. Bxc1 Qc7 (to avoid Rd7)
5. Qc4+ Qxc4
6. cxc4 Be7
7. Rd7 Bxd8
8. Rxb7
The mate is delayed, but black isn’t going to continue anyway.
No clue.
1.Nh6+ Kh8 (if 1…gxh6 2.Qg4+ mates) 2.Nxf7+ Kg8 3.Nxd8 wins.
1.Nh6+ Kh8 (if 1…gxh6 2.Qg4+ mates) 2.Nxf7+ Kg8 3.Nxd8 wins.
Seems pretty obvious to play 1. Nh6+ Kh8 (1…gh 2. Qg4+ Bg7 3. Q:g7#) 2. N:f7+ Kg8 3. N:e8 and white will win more material shortly with the extra heavy piece and the weakness of the 8th rank.
