Rd1# should win a rook after the queen exchange…if black responds with rXd1, the black queen is gone!
1. Rd1+
1……….Rd1+!
>A-2.Rxd1.Qxc3. Black has Q for R with easy win
>B-2.Bf1…Qxc3.3.Rxc3.Rxa1. Black is a R up with a easy win.
>C-2.Qe1.Rxe1+.3.Rxe1. Black has Q for R with easy win.
Other variations, white loses more material and the game.
Harry
Similar theme from the puzzle a couple of days back. White’s queen is protected by a rook on the back rank containing the white king. As in that puzzle, a rook check is indicated instantly:
1. …..Rd1
2. Bf1
Or lose the queen for a rook. Continuing:
2. …..Qc3
3. Rc3 Ra1 and black was won a rook.
Of course, white does better to take the rook at d1 at move 2 or 3, but the game is still lost.
1. … Rd1+
If
2. Rd1 Qc3
If
2. Bf1 Qc3
3. Rc3 Ra1
1. … Rd1+
If
2. Rd1 Qc3
If
2. Bf1 Qc3
3. Rc3 Ra1
1.- Rd1+ and 2.- Qxc3 wins.
I think this is very easy, Rd1+ wins the queen for the rook or wins a whole rook
1. … Rd1+
2. Bf1(?) Qxc3
3. Rxc3 Rxa1
Is up with rook and Bf1 is hanging.
4. Rxc4 (enforced) Bxc4
5. bxc4 Rxf1 (simplification)
6. Kxf1
Obviously white stops playing here.
The longer lasting line for white actually seems to be to sack the queen with:
2. Rxd1 Qxc3
and black is of course winning, but at least white avoids the hanging bishop and can keep pieces longer on the board.
Correction of my first post:
1. … Rd1+
2. Bf1(?) Qxc3
3. Rxc3 Rxa1
4. bxc4
was of course the enforced move and no bishop is hanging but anyway white resigns here.
1. … Rd1+ 2. Bf1 (2. Rxd1 Qxc3) Qxc3 3. Rxc3 Rxa1 0-1
1. … Rd1+!
White is helpless:
2. Bf1 Qxc3
3. Rxc3 Rxa1 +-
Or
2. Rxd1 Qxc3 +-
Familiar story!
1…. Rd1+
2.Bf1 QxQc3
3.Rxc3 Rxa1 wins a R.In order not to lose further material white should immediately play 4.bxc4 to prevent black from 4… cxb3 winning B at f1.
1. Rd1 Bf1
2. QxQc3 RxQc3
3. RxRa1
1. … RxRd1 loses the Q
1…RD1 check.
Black wins Q for R.
The best defence is 2.Bf1.
I might try that in a club game and hope for a blunder.
Against Reti – against any decent player – it’s tome for White to turn over his King.
