I’m probably missing something, but how about 1. Qa1+ Rb1 2. Qd4 – does that work?
Its a mate in three:
1. Qa1+ Rb1, 2.Qc3+ Kd1, 3.Qd2 mate
how about 1. Qa5 …
1.Qa5 …

Sure Qa1+ is the first thing that comes to ones mind.
But then I saw that Qc7+ must be an easy win in all its variants i’d settled for that.
When saving the FEN, my computer told me
that Qa1 is a straight forward mate.
(not in three but in 6 moves)
That fact surprised me.
What did Chuky play?
I think the same Qa1. I think these positions are fun and good for my brain.

In a speed game white would take the K with his rook.
In a tournament game the arbitrator would make black retract his illegal move.

Agree with the first anonymous. I am nearly sleeping but found that moves too. Human brain is magic. I didn’t think and still the solution came to me. It just came..
And I’m NOT a strong player.
