I just got news that Mr. Alexander Roshal, a well respected Chief Editor for the 64-magazine, the #1 chess magazine in Russia, just passed away last night after battling health problems for a while now. I last saw him when I visited Moscow with Dr. Mikhail Korenman and Paul Truong with the Chess for Peace delegation. The picture above was taken in his office during that trip. My condolences to his family and the Russian chess federation. Here is the link to the news.

May he rest in peace. The magazine “64” was one of my favorite readings for many years.
That’s a shame.
It’s a further shame that magazine is unavailable to the non russian-speaking chess public.
