Snidley Whiplash

Akiba Rubinstein vs Jaque Mieses
The player on the left side is Akiba Rubinstein (Poland) playing Jaques Mieses (Germany).
Akiba Rubenstein. Hard to recognize him with the mustache. Must be around the time of the St. Petersburg Tournament (1909). (No, I wasn’t there!)

Akiba Rubinstein
Rubinstein
It looks like Akiba Rubinstein.
His opponent may be Tarrasch.

Emanuel Lasker??
Rubinstein and Mieses. That’s a no brainer, Susan.
Rubinstein
Akiba Rubinstein. His moustaches are unmistakable
Rubinstein, of course.
The first anonymous poster was incorrect. It is not Snidely Whiplash, it is Dick Dastardly. His pup Muttley is clearly seen cowering under Dick’s chair.
It’s Mieses (White) and Rubinstein (Black). Berlin, 1909. I was standing behind Mieses, but for some reason they cropped me out of the photo. I was whispering moves to Mieses, who went on to win this game. He still owes me money.

It’s Fischer in the prime of his life.
