Bay Area Group Uses Hip-Hop, Chess To Teach Peace
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS 5) ― At first glance, hip-hop and chess may not seem like they go well together. But a local group is combining music, chess and martial arts to teach young people peace.
The Hip-Hop Chess Federation is a non-profit organization that shows kids non-violent strategies to get out their aggressions. Adisa Banjoko, the federation’s founder combined his three passions of chess hip-hop and martial harts. He said the combination really appeals to young inner city kids.
