This week (Tue., Oct 14), joining John on Chess Talk is one of America’s top grandmasters, Varuzhan Akobian, who recently came equal first at the SPICE Cup, one of the strongest U.S. invitationals of recent years.
Armenian-born “Var” is one of America’s more colorful and energetic grandmasters. Last year he became something of a chess celeb after starring in MTV’s True Life documentary “I’m a Genius”. He’s also a prolific player on the chess circuit, with many U.S. titles to his name, and has just returned from the Mind Sports Olympiad in Beijing.
