I was just recently informed by GM Eugene Perelshteyn that this book has just been released. I have seen the one for Black and I like it very much. If this is anything like that one, it would be a good book.
Chess Openings for White, Explained: Winning with 1 e4
by Lev Alburt, Roman Dzindzichashvili & Eugene Perelshteyn, 542pp. (2006 CIRC) Every chess player needs a set of openings he can trust. Chess Openings for White, Explained gives you a complete repertoire of carefully selected, interrelated openings to show you how to win with White using Bobby Fischer’s favorite first move, 1 e4. Additionally, you get an informative review of every opening from White’s point of view, even the ones not part of the book’s repertoire.
This book, together with its companion volume, gives you the most thorough explanation of chess opening moves and ideas available. Here’s what Grandmaster Glenn Flear had to say about Chess Openings for Black, Explained in the prestigious international journal, New In Chess Yearbook: “It’s exactly what many have been looking for but don’t even realize it: a great book for really learning openings without just memorizing variations.”
I like Alburt and Perelshteyn. But I wouldn’t want to buy anything from Dzindzichashvili. Lev and Eugene should do the next book by themselves.
here is the blurb from the publisher on the book.
Word from the Publisher
This series shows you how to start your chess games as dynamically and accurately as the greatest grandmasters in the world.
Three-time US Champion Champion Lev Alburt, famous for his ability to turn aspiring players into masters, teams up with two-time U.S. Champion Roman Dzindzichashvili and young international star Eugene Perelshteyn to give you a complete repertoire of opening play-as well as a review of all openings and an explanation of the principles of playing this crucial stage of the game. And although these books concentrate on the first 20 moves or so of a chess game, they never leave you hanging without a plan. The authors make sure you know the themes and ideas so that you can follow up your great opening play with winning strategies.
Chess Openings for White, Explained covers the game from the white side. You’ll learn how to play and follow up the first move Bobby Fischer called “best by test.” Fully illustrated with two-color chess diagrams throughout.
I wonder what openings he advises to play. I play e4 and might be interested to see what they put together for a system. although I dont think I am going to switch from what I play now.
I bought this book two weeks ago at the world open. Havent opened it yet.
Watson suggests it sucked:

The Watson review is a hatchet job, dont worry its a very good book with lots of nice ideas.
