Crete Chess Tour 2010

Rethymno and Paleohora, 8.500 Euro prize fund in each tournament

Chess organizers from the Greek island of Crete are preparing two consecutive open tournaments to take place in July this year. The 2nd International Open Chess Tournament Rethymno is scheduled for 13-20th July 2010, and after a day of break, the 3rd Paleohora International Open Chess Tournament launches on 22nd July and concludes on the 29th.

Both tournaments are boasting prize funds of around 8.500 Euros, with very favourable conditions for titled players. Even the mere “mortals” will be offered with cheap accommodation at the peak of touristic season, prices ranging from 20 to 50 Euro per day. Nine rounds of swiss system will be played with time control of 90 min for 40 moves + 30min + 30sec per move from the first move.

Already a number of titled players have reserved the seats, among them more than 30 Grandmasters.
