In Alaska you will notice a lot of RV’s travelling the main north-south highway. Tourists fly to Anchorage, rent an RV, drive the highway, then pull to the side of the road and sleep in the RV when they get tired.
The biggest problem is sleeping at 23:00 when the sun is still bright.
Driving that highway, you can even tell the *exact* spot where the underground frost line must be — the trees suddenly are all shorter.

My girlfriend’s parents live in Juneau and she visits every summer. (We were there over the July 4 weekend.)
Hopefully next year you’ll be able to do this again when we’re up there.
