Captured sailors shown playing chess
Tuesday, 03 Apr 2007 16:15
New pictures of the captured British sailors have been published on an Iranian website.
The images show some of the 14 men and one woman looking relaxed and wearing casual clothes and are the first to be published without them being in combat fatigues.
Published on the Iranian Fars news agency website, the images come at a time when hopes have been raised that a peaceful resolution to the diplomatic crisis between Tehran and London is possible.
The 15 Royal Navy personnel were captured in the Gulf on March 23rd and a number of films and pictures have emerged through Iranian authorities in recent days.
Here is the full story. I hope that Iran will release the British soldiers immediately. The propaganda will not help the situation.
Chess is everywhere!
Todays’ Ellen Degenres’s show (starring Jeniffer Lopez) had a young boy/man introducing himself as “Daniel”, “I play chess”. He indicated that he is able to make money out of chess. Ellen did not quite beleive him. Any idea who this kid is?
I think the focus is on the fact that they are hostages, not that they are playing chess.
They are out there working with your forces: this is not a story about chess.
🙁 🙁 g
You realize this would have been a publicity shot right?
Please delete this item on chess in Iran. It seems to me to be a lapse of good taste.
The confusion between ‘Britain’ and ‘England’ is just a footnote.
