2. fxg6. Bxa3 (or any other B move to clear e7 square for King to escape
3. Bd6++ Kg8
4. Qh7#
1st move is obvious. 2nd isn’t.
1. Ng6+ Bxg6
Now 2. fxg6 only leads to a mate in 4 if Black co-operates with 2. .. Qe6? 3. Bd6+ Qf6 4. Qh8#
But after 2. fxg6? Black can postpone mate by one move with 2. .. Qh3 3. Qxh3 Bf6 4. Bd6+ Ree7 5. Qh8#
The correct continuation for White is:
2. Qh8+ 2. .. Kf7 3. fxg6+ Ke6 4. Qh3#

As soon as I convinced myself 1.Qh8+ doesnt work, then the real answer came rather easily.
1.Ng6+ Bxg6 (1…Kg8 2.Qh8#)
2.Qh8+ Kf7
3.fxg6 Ke6
4.Qh3#
Even though black is an entire rook up at the start of the puzzle, his queen, 2 knights and the a7 rook are merely spectators to the real action.
From the second world chess champion Emmanuel Lasker “The losing side has the greater part of his army in positions where they had no bearing whatever upon the questions at issue. They might have been just as well anywhere else but on the board.”
I think it goes like this:
1. Ng6+ Bxg6
2. fxg6 threatening Bd6 and then Qh7/8#
if
2. … Qe6 then we switch moves:
3. Qh8+ Qg8
4. Bd6#
if
2. … Kg8 then
3. Qh7+ Kf8
4. Qh8#
