From the photo, it looks like Magnus was playing blind… 🙂
I really doubt his father would “throw” the game, but in any case he probably was no match for the young GM++
Both carlsens….the headline quite inappropriate. whoever put the headline is stupid
Thank you for the insult. I take full credit for the headline.
Best wishes,
Susan Polgar
I like the headline. Very clever and funny. Keep up the good work Susan.
Don’t worry Susan. Headline is ok and you’re a clever woman 🙂
Good that Carlsens decided to play for real.
why not simply censor the insult, which is your normal habit?
a) the headline was meant as a joke. It was an OK joke
b) of course Magnus won! LOL what did u expect?! 😉 700 rating points difference!!! :O
Ellrond, ‘normal habit’ of censorship is a bad habit.
Censorship is bad.
It was a great game to watch live. On ICC everyone really seemed to have a good time. This was an extraordinary game to get the opportunity to watch.
Henrik did a nice job of holding his own against someone rated so much higher than him. He even gives a couple of clever checks getting a rook back before having to resign.
It seemed that Magnus just had a more finely tuned feel for the board. Henrik plays good chess. But Magnus has a better feel for the positions.
I really enjoyed the game and I love your headline. Keep up the great blog Susan. There is noting on the internet as good as this site.
Ellrond, if you do not like the policy of my blog, you are free not to participate or view it. You are also free to set up your own blog and set your own policies. My policy protects the interests of chess players and enthusiasts of all ages, not people who need anger management classes.

Ingrid Øen Carlsen (1059 NOR) is also playing and she won today also. so the Carlsens gained 2 points today.
Pretty cool news. I wish I had known this sooner to get it posted sooner. but I just learned it now.
I would like to inform the readers of this blog, that Norwegian ratings are very underestimated. A Norwegian player with a NOR-rating of 1800 can easily match a player with an USCF-rating of about 1950 – 2050.
Well USCF ratings are too inflated compared to any other national or international ratings..
(compare top US players with their FIde ratings e.g.)
I think ‘inflation’ is unavoidable in any ELO-based scheme. Isn’t it about 4% per annum for FIDE ELO.
Maybe USCF has a different ELO calculation.
Obviously, if more games are played per year in an ‘ELO community’ than in another community, all other things being equal, the inflation will be higher. I’d expect that with the SSDF ELO, which was ‘knocked back’ 100 points some years ago to get better alignment with FIDE ELO.
Of course, poorer players tend to leave sooner, which also inflates the ELO figures.
Sorry for insulting remark. stupid me, couldn’t understand the joke. I look out for chess news on net and i must say no one makes a chess blog as interesting as you do madam.
cheers
