Magnus drew his former coach Simen Agdestein earlier. He now has 3.5 points in 5 games.
So who does he get next? His own father Henrik Carlsen!
Prediction? 🙂
When was the last time a super GM face his own father or mother in a tournament? Will they prepare together? Who will annotate the game on Magnus’ blog? All I can say is good luck to Carlsen! 🙂
In the mean time, GM Bartlomiej Macieja, GM Kjetil A. Lie and GM Mikhail Gurevich are tied for 1st with 4.5 points.

Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
Haha! this is incredible. Look forward to the LIVE-transmission
How is it that no one reports about this except your blog? Amazing!
Well, it is 01:10 am in Norway now. The drawing was published 2 hours ago. No newspapers in Norway has written anything yet. I guess they will tomorrow!
This will be GREAT!
Did Hikaru ever play Sunil?
This morning I went to the official web site and noticed his dad actually had a half point more than magnus. But I thought it might be a mistake that the dad does not play.
Now this is awesome news. It will be really cool if it makes the front page of all the newspapers around the world. I just have to watch the game tomorrow.
This is ridiculous pairing. Equal to civil war. Why, oh pairing system, why?
Of course Magnus will win! He won’t give his father a draw. Magnus plays for his carreer, Henrik just for fun.
Magnus will tear his father apart, you’ll see!
Well the real fun is going to be all the Kibitzing on ICC. Everyone will be trying to make funny comments the entire game.
I hope the dad wins. It will be more funny that way. But Magnus is so strong he should blow him off the board. I hope Henrik puts up a good game.
I don’t like losing to 16 year old kids. Henrik has to uphold the honor of fathers everywhere.
Go Henrik Go.
Game time is 10 am New York time.
