Nakamura and Carlsen at Corus 2010
This is their third meeting in two months
Magnus Carlsen and Hikaru Nakamura will meet for the third time in three months. After playing the BNbank blitz and the London Chess Classic, the two young stars will face each other at Corus 2010.
In the last rating period, that included their direct matches, Carlsen and Nakamura had different rating direction. The Norwegian prodigy is currently top of the world rankings with 2810, a 9 points increase from the previous list. Nakamura is with 2708 at position 28 with 7 points decrease.
However, looking at the Live rating list, Nakamura shows over 19 points increase and is showing a top notch form at the World Team Championship, leading USA towards the victory.
Before Corus 2010
On November 28th, Nakamura defeated the reigning blitz champion Magnus Carlsen on his home turf in the promotional BNbank blitz event. Despite a good start from Magnus in the final match, one blunder turned around the second game. That gave Nakamura the psychological advantage and he closed the match in a convincing matter.
In their game in London Chess Classic Magnus Carlsen won the opening duel, but Nakamura played solid moves in the middlegame. The game converged to a draw and the players left the battle for the 2010 Corus editon.
