Manila, Philippines – The National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) cancelled the Battle of the Grandmasters International due to the unavailability of some of the country’s top players and the invited foreign grandmasters.

Also canceled were the Women’s International Closed Tournament and the International Open.

“The federation decided to postpone the event and let our top players prepare for the other major tournaments that they are invited to play,“ said NCFP executive director GM Jayson Gonzales.

The Battle of the GMs International is supposed to start today in Malvar, Batangas.
