Vesela Lecheva with letter about Kamsky – Topalov
Open letter by the Bulgarian Sports Minister
The Bulgarian sports minister Vesela Lecheva sent early Tuesday morning a letter to the FIDE office and to the FIDE President Kirsan Ilymzhinov. The letter is about the Kamsky – Topalov match and is a follow up on the letter by the Bulgarian Chess Federation a few weeks ago.
In a short telephone call Veselin Topalov’s manager Silvio Danailov commented for Chessdom.com, “We still have not received an answer to the previous letter. If there is no action in the next 10 days the Bulgarian Olympic Committee (chess is Olympic sport in Bulgaria) will have to inform directly the IOC and its President Jacques Rogge.”

This is so saddening. Topalov is deliberately, and purposefully inciting hatred and turmoil again.
If the Chess community had decency Topalov would be banned for a minimum of 4 years, like the doping athletes are banned in track and field.
Then if after the 4 year absence his form and mind were still in good enough shape to attempt a comeback, he SHOULD be required to behave impeccably, and not to cause the smallest distraction or be banned for life.
The fairness and morality in the royal game demands this to be done. It is sad it has gone this far, but it is all Topalov’s own doing in the end. A message needs to be send.
The match should start on November 26th, but nobody knows if, when, where and under what conditions is the match going to take place.
Topalov and Bulgarian federation just wants some information and now Topalov is the bad guy???
Are you sane?
I am quite sure that both players want this match to go ahead, but how complaining to the IOC will help I have no idea. Rogge is going to say, “hey, these chess guys can’t organize anything. I’m glad we through them out of the olympics.”
But, if Topalov thought that would prod Iljumshinov into action, I don’t think so.
Don’t blame it on Topalov and Bulgarians.
Remember that there was a very serious offer to organize the match in Bulgaria. If they would get it, the match wouldn’t be uncertain.
But no, first Kamsky’s camp deceived everybody that they have found another organizer. Later when it was apparent that there is no money, Kirsan gave guarantees that he will give his own money if for some reason the mysterious organizers in Lvov couldn’t put up the money (which they still don’t have). And now even Kirsan is silent and broke his word.
The uncertanty of this match is everybody elses fault but Topalov or Bulgarians.
Bulgarians shut up!
First: Topalov lost in 2006 against Kramnik fair and square and by doing so he miraculously qualified for the match with Kamsky who had to win the World Cup instead!?
Second: To stage the match in Bulgaria would give Topalov a home-advantage…NO WAY !!!
Third: Danailov is a very bad guy. I recently read through the Topalov-book on the 2006 match and I couldn’t help myself how bad this guy really is…he constantly files complaints and fights the match off the board when Topalov fails on the board. It’s hilarious…in the end he even managed to turn Topalovs loss in the match into a qualification for this match with Kamsky! – Why is the chess world looking on and accepting that?!
I would rather like to see the match Kamsky – Topalov NOT taking place, Topalov getting disqualified for his managers’ unfair actions in Elista 2006 and Kamsky moving on to his rightfully deserved match with the winner of Kramnik-Anand.
First, you make too many assumptions – i’m not Bulgarian.
Second, I won’t shut up. OK?
Third, Topalov “qualified” for that match the same way as Kramnik has. You don’t seem to have any problems with Kramnik. So be fair and treat all players the same way.
Fourth, even if Topalov and Danailov were unethical in 2006 match, it has no relevance whether FIDE should give out some information regarding the Topalov-Kamsky match or not. Players have to know. WE, the chess public, need to know. Anand vs. Kramnik was known one year in advance – the venue, the dates, the prize money, match conditions, everything. Absolutelly NOTHING is known about Topalov vs. Kamsky match. And it is few days more than a month before the supposed start of the match. FIDE has to give out some information. Kirsan has to give out his own money, since he gave his guarantee. It’s obvious that there is no other money. There never was. Kamsky manager has deceived us all. You are very foolish if you can’t see that.
P.S.: There were many matches in the past where one of the players had the “home advantage” so this is not an issue. If Americans would give out a 3 milion USD prize money, i’m sure Topalov would be willing to play in USA.
this match is becoming a farce because of kamsky and kirsan’s shenanigans. people who keep bashing on topalov are simply retarded. it is obvious that the only demand from the bulgarian side is clarity about when and where the match is going to proceed.
THE TRUTH IS FAR SIMPLER: TOPALOV IS IN A FAR BETTER SHAPE THAN EITHER KRAMNIK, ANAND, OR KAMSKY. HE WILL RUN LIKE A TRUCK OVER THE TATAR EMIGRE. THE UNCOMFORTABLE MOMENT FOR THE SLIME-BALL ILYUMZHINOV IS TO HAVE TO ORGANIZE, SAY, A TOPALOV-KRAMNIK GAME ONCE AGAIN, WHERE KRAMNIK WILL DO ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING TO AVOID SUCH A GAME.
