Dear Mr President,
I have learnt with great interest of the French Chess Federation project to organize in Paris the upcoming Chess World Championship in later in November this year. This Championship is very exciting with the match between Viswanathan Anand and Magnus Carlsen.
The city of Paris welcomes this initiative and I am happy to give my whole hearted support to the French Chess Federation to successfully carry out this project.
Paris is the city where FIDE was born and ever since, chess has been part of our cultural heritage. Our Capital is looking forward to organize and welcome in the best possible conditions this Championship that will enable Paris to profile itself internationally.
Yours sincerely,
Bertrand DELANOE

Why not St. Louis for $25 mil?
st Louis is organizing a match naka vs topa prize fund $25.99 – winner takes all.
Carlsen and gang are turning out to be just another bunch of a-h’s. It is easy to bid higher once you know the initial bid. Moscow did that to Chennai the last time. In all fairness FIDE must stick to it’s word given to Chennai. Also it is good that a World Championship match is being held in Asia, instead of the usual suspects – Europe or USA. Credit to gentleman Anand who is ready to brave volcanic dust and play in the Lion’s den ( Sofia ) without complaint. In contrast, Carlsen is a sissy boy, by nature – a spoilt brat.
I knew in my guts from day one the venue would be an issue. Neutral ground is good. Good luck to both of these gentlemen. This is going to be a pretty terrific battle.

Mr Carlsen is quite correct. Fide dropped the ball…again…..This is an important moment that should not be influenced by ridiculous ineptitude. What? Do they grow these Fide Presidents in a flower shop or something?

FIDE gave it’s word to Chennai and is sticking by it Mike! So go fly a kite! About time Asia got a World championships. If Topalov who was not champion could get to play in Sofia, why not Anand, a respected and long standing champion get to play in Chennai?
Fly a kite….I like that….about as “Profesional” as Fide can get. There’s no doubt Mr Carlsen has a point..and your attitude is pretty “normal” in regards to not treating the players with respect.
I’m sure Mr Anand would not back up this position..he has too much integrety.

Next time..be a man..and sign your name…
and the argument for playing in Chennai is wonderful. “Well if they can be stupid…we can too!” What kind of logic is this?
