Vinay,
GSN is a 24 hour a day TV Game Show Network. Most American cable and satellite companies offer it.

thanks very much
I’ll Tivo it right now and hit pause on the Masters
Although I am a bit wary after reading half of Bobby Fischer goes to war. I knew he was eccentric but…..wow
Still …amazing how devestating an opponent he was in every way.
I watched the documentary. It was interesting. However, they had plenty of mistakes with the Hungary part.
Best wishes,

Since I don’t get GSN cable tv, I would welcome reading any comments regarding what the program showed. Thanks.
All in all it was very sad to see GM Paul Keres say how many more beautiful games Fischer could have played and another wondered how long he could been Champion had he kept competing. Also Bobby’s childhood friend Anthony Saidy tearing up at the end of the program, when he was contemplating what Bobby’s career could have been and obviously how forlorn his life has become. I think without chess Bobby’s life mentally and physically self destructed. It was a paradox I think of Chess making him intense, erratic, and paranoid, but on the contrary without his lifelong passion, led to his ultimate unraveling.

Susan what were the mistakes in the program about the Hungary part?
TFK
He didn’t come to Hungary to chase after his Hungarian girlfriend. She left him before that. He was miserable where he was. He came because my family and I invited him to come and he stayed in our summer home. This part was not even mentioned in the clip.

I didn’t see it though I guess I’ll ask my chess friends if anyone made a tape. Still, I think Fischer hates this kind of thing and he is trying to be a private person. Making documentaries like this basically exploits him and probably causes him pain. I’d rather that the filmmakers did something else instead.
I thought GSN was the Geriatric Society Network
The Lesson Bobby Fischer teaches is that no man is an island.
Susan, Did the folks from the “GSN” even approach you to contribute to their offering? Yes it is a shame they messed up the Hungary connection. It’s also a shame some other folks that worked with Bobby, like Larry Evans, William Lombardy, did not appear to give their first hand authoritive testimony. But they really dropped the ball not mentioning the generosity of your family in trying to help Bobby out in Hungary! Bruce Towell
