Release Date: 2011-02-08

DirectRooms.com divulges that chess players from all around the UK will be coming to Blackpool in March to compete in Britain’s largest weekend of competitive chess

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE / PRURGENT

The 35th edition of the Blackpool Chess Conference will see players of all levels and experience heading to the tournament, all with the aim of winning some of the total prize money which is expected to reach in excess of £9,000.

Before the start of the tournament players will have to declare or receive a grading before playing and entrants are then split into groups. Players will feature in a total of six sections ranging from beginners to grandmasters and additionally there are two qualifiers for the British Championships.

Prize money for first place is set to range from £200 to £800 depending on the competition and contestants can also win prizes and trophies for other positions in each of the categories. The event is running from 11th to 13th March 2011 at the Barceló Imperial Hotel in Blackpool and players will be looking to emulate the success of Mark Hebden who was last year’s winner of the main competition.

As Britain’s largest weekend of chess many contestants will be arriving in the city to take part and this will affect hotels in Blackpool which may result in some places having no vacancies.

Lek Boonlert, marketing head at DirectRooms.com commented: “The Blackpool chess tournament is a serious weekend of competition and is attended by players from different regions of the UK. Visitors will be booking into places over the three days and attendees will need to reserve early to find the best rates.”
