The 5th Singapore Masters International Open took place from December 10-14, 2008. It was a 9 round SS event. IM Bitoon of the Philippines took clear first with 6.5 points.

India’s GM Panchanathan Magesh Chandran who won the World Open 2005 in Philadelphia ahead of then US Champion Hikaru Nakamura has once again become active in chess.
He will play in the forthcoming Parsvnath Open in India in January 2009. He should play more for india so that he can become among Top 5 GM’s in the country
Congrats to IM Bitoon to finish champion in a field which included 8 GMs. The same GMs (including GM Panchanthan) are now taking part in the KL Open, Malaysia.
