Dmitry Medvedev sent a message of congratulations to twelfth world chess champion Anatoly Karpov on his 60th birthday.
The President said, in particular, in his telegram:
“Millions of people in our country and around the world know you as an outstanding chess player. Your talent and determination won you the lofty title of world champion and earned you victory in many prestigious international tournaments.
Today, you dedicate much time and effort to popularising chess, training young players, and opening chess schools in cities around Russia.”
