Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
We will be able to witness one of those famous games that will go down in chess-history as ‘Reigning Champion against his future challenger’, like Spassky-Fischer at the Olympiad 1970…
Battle of the Kings!
Aronian is also playing!
I just see: Aronian is also playing. He will the next champ, sure!
okay
Radjabov’s King’s Indian nets him another scalp.
Wrong moves Anand(29. …Ke6) and Aronian (30. …Rb6)at the same time…
Carlsen- Anand

Anand may be under a bit of pressure with with white’s e-pawn marching down. Maybe he can try for some counter-play on the Q-side, but Carlsen’s Bishop seems well positioned.
Anand 21 min
Carlsen 23 min
Thanks MG42.
Susan are you watching this game?

You are Welcome Orange Juice 🙂
Now it seems like Anand is pushing on the Q-side. Carlsen’s rook has been temporarily sealed against penetrating the 7th rank.
I was expecting white to play b4 much before this and push on the Q-side with the bishop posted on a4.
Carlsen to play. Maybe he can try axb6 followed by Rg4? Seems unclear to me.
The two ‘chuk’s appear to be winning.
Anand is in trouble again.
Anand is in big trouble. I think the endgame is lost. Two passed pawns for white and Black has one pawn hanging in the middle of the board
Anand is lost!
Thanks for the commentary Mig!
Your chess commentary is appreciated.
Grischuk-Aronian 1-0.

Someone needs to reset Rybka computer. Bad moves are computer error, Da?
Aronian is also playing!
Carlsen-Anand 1-0.
“Carlsen-Anand 1-0.”
Holy crap!
Paul, we need some followup commentary on this like 10 minutes ago!
Wow!
Long live King Magnus!
Chelsea-Juve 1-0.
Jackass, Polgar 0-1
Does anyone have any thoughts on Ivanchuk’s seemingly strange draw?! According to the engines he was in a commanding position – here is the FEN of the final position:
8/5pk1/1p1r1b1p/3B1RpK/3P4/p1r1P1P1/P3RP1P/8 w – – 4 48
My engine has e4 as nearly +3.0, and the next three best options around +2.0. Was he in desperate time trouble or something?
And what a win for Magnus – wow! Great game, and superb technique to convert the advanatge. Seems Aronian had an off day, Grischuk seemed to overwhelm him quite easily.
Great days entertainment – wonderful to see such fighting chess.
Anand seems to be having a lot of trouble with d4 once again (in this tournament). Maybe he should go with the Gruenfeld instead of the Slav.
Any obvious blunders in this game?
confused about Ivanchuk’s draw.
They both got to the extra hour and after move 40 things still favored chucky..
MG42 – no obvious blunders to my lowly eyes, but Rybka’s online analysis suggests that 47. Rh3+ was a mistake, with Re1+ preferred for a near equal position. The evaluation had fluctuated between +0.5 and around +1.2 to Carlsen for some time before this, but after Rh3 it jumped to more than +2.0. However, Magnus did not play the “best” moves, but another slip by Anand on move 57, Nf3 gave back the advantage (Rybka preferred Rh1+ evaluating at +0.55). On move 63 the computer announced mate in 32. I suspect the GM analysis will highlight some major turning points, but it was fascinating to watch the computers evluation fluctuating with each move, and trying to follow the suggested lines.
Anonymous, I agree about Chuky – there still seems to be so much for him to play for, and not a great deal of danger. I will be interested to see his comments in the press conference. I’m playing it through from the final position now, and the evaluation is now up to +4.0 after another 6 or so moves…
Real-Liverpool 0-1
where can I read the press conference>?
