Who is your pick to win the A group?
Here is the official website.
V Anand
Ponomariov
Kramnik
if kramnik plays as well as he did against topa in the last half of the match, he will win the event.
Kramnik Crushes the Field…
Go Topa
It’d be fun to see:
1. Anand
2. Carlsen
3. Kramnik
…
10. Topalov
————-
What I expect:
1. Anand
2. Ponomariov
3. Topalov
4. Kramnik
…
10. Carlsen
i wish it was vishy, but it wont be easy. theres too much of a wide field where you can stumble against anyone. (not saying this just because i would stumble against everyone…)
Go Vishy !!
and the toilet situation for this tournament is? Sorry, couldnt resist 🙂
Topalov or Anand. Kramnik won’t do better than third.
1. Topalov
1. Topalov & Anand
Kramnik – 50% result – 5-6 place
I think Topalov can achieve more points from the lower players than Kramnik or Anand while holding the strongers…he must win…
it’s a wide open event and at least 4-5 guys are capable of winning but i have a feeling about anand – i think carlsen will have a similar tournament as he did at tal memorial – it will be a good learning experience but he’s not quite ready – where’s nakamura and mamedyarov
So far as Magnus has moved into the top players he has run into a brick wall. they play a little different. But Magnus will eventually break through them all.
There is a big difference between winning tournaments and Matches. This was shown in a scientific study recently released and noted on Susan’s Blog.
It is important to understand this.

This gives the edge to Topalov even though Kramnik is the better player. The best player does not win tournaments as explained.
Exciting event.
Rooting for Anand, hoping Kramnik vindicates himself, and wishing Carlsen the best of luck.
It would be great if the event stays clean, in terms of politics and accusations.
Unfortunately, with Danailov running for the presidency of FIDE (just a rumour), he is unlikely to stay quiet.
Topalov, Anand ,and Kramnik must be the favouites. But everything will depend on the draw. I am hoping that Aronian , Radjabov and Ponomariov will be in the top three and I would not be surprised to see one of them as a winner. I think People forget that Ponomariov did win the world championship and his old for has returned. Aronian and Radjabov will also mount a strong challenge.
But a good smile for the chess gods and a good draw are most important for the winner.

What does category 19 event mean?
Anyone know why Ivanchuk is not playing?
Finally a great event!
After the boring Topalov-Kramnik and Fritz10-Kramnik matches.
Topalov and Anand are my favorite players.
V. Kramnik
The category has to do with the average rating
of the participants. The higher the
elo-average is, the higher the rank of the tournament. I do not know the exact details.
