“VALENTINE’S DAY WEEKEND WASN’T just for lovers this year, as chess players from across the USA took advantage of it also being President’s Day weekend, a popular time for multi-day chess tournaments in the country.” So begins the recent WCL Special Report by our very own photographer and journalist Betsy Dynako. In her first-ever video for Chess.FM, Dynako documents a trip taken by the World Chess Live team to one of the largest scholastic chess events in the nation, the 35th Annual Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Team Chess Championship. While there, WCL awarded free memberships to players and coaches. There was even a guest appearance by GM Yury Shulman, the current U.S. Champion. Congratulations to dynamo Dynako on this cinematic success!
