Meet India’s Woman Grandmaster and Arjuna Award Winner, Tania Sachdev. Born and raised in the city of Delhi, Tania is not just a strikingly pretty face, but an award winning chess-wiz as well. That’s right!
Having plunged into the game of chess at a tender age of 6, Tania went onto achieve her very first International title at the mere age of 8. Never looking back ever since, Tania went onto participate in multiple events and has earned herself several National and International acclaims.
In the year 2005, Tania became the 8th Indian player to be honoured with the Woman Grandmaster title. In the following years, she went onto win the Premier Chess Championship and Women’s Asian Chess Championship as well.
Thanks to her several laurels, Tania’s achievements were soon recognized by the Govt. of India and conferred her with the prestigious Arjuna Award in the year 2009.
Sponsored by Red Bull, she grabbed several other laurels over the years making her one hell of a beauty with brains. Tania was wed to her long-time boyfriend, Viraj Kataria in a perfect fairy tale wedding in the year 2014.
