Just curious GM Susan Polgar. Are these positions already in Chessbase CBH format or are these from uncollected games you’ve been able to store for teaching purposes?
1. Rh6 Qd7
2. f6 Rxh6
3. Qxh6+ Kg8
4. Bf5 Qf7
5. Be6
6. Qg7++
1. Rh6 Rxh6
2. Qxh6+ Kg8
3. Qg6+ Kh8
4. f6 Nxf6 (Qd7 see above)
5. Rxf6 and mate on h7
1. f6 Qxe6
2. Bxh7 Nxf6 or Rxf6 and no mate

For me, an attracting diagram should be the one Susan miss to resolve ! but not in games she plays, somes reals diagrams she don’t found the good way.

I didn’t know this. It makes them more valuable and worth trying without computer.

hmmmm – no correct solution, so far…
this 1.rh6 concept looks very promising, but 1… qd7 is simply weak; black has the better move 1…rf7 … but what now?
the low-life one … ^^
Hi Susan,
It would be great if you could post solutions as well. You could possibly add it as a comment after a couple of days. That way we get to see if our thought process is right.
Thank You !
Cheers n Happy New Year !
She don’t know the solution, this is why it is a chess “problem”.
=)
This is a fascinating development! GM Susan Polgar is a chess problem designer! That’s really interesting.
I would love to know the criteria for “designing” chess problems myself. Knowing the criteria might actually help people become better at chess.

Now play f6, threatening h7. devastating, but no mate if black surrenders lots of material.
after
1.rh6 rf7
2.f6 …
i’d play 2…qg8 (last dance, last chance… ^^)
what now?
PS: since no one apparently does appreciate my *pgn postings, i’ll try it this way ^^
1.Rh6 Rf7
2.f6 Qg8
3.Rxh7 Rxh7
4.Qxg8 Kxg8
5.Bxh7 Kxh7
6.f7 Nd7
7.f8=Q should win
or
3.Bxh7 Rxh7
4.f6
